About the EMERGE Project
The Polytechnic University of Tirana, through the Institute of Geosciences, is involved in the project “101193586‑EMERGE‑UCPM‑2024‑KAPP‑PV,” entitled “RAPID MULTI‑RISK NEEDS EVALUATION AND PLANNING PLATFORM.” This project began its implementation at the beginning of 2025 and is planned to last 24 months. In fulfilment of the project obligations, its kick-off meeting was organized on the premises of the Polytechnic University of Tirana on March 7, 2025.
About the EMERGE Project
The EMERGE Project (101193586-UCPM-2024-KAPP-PV) aims to enhance regional disaster and emergency management capabilities through the development of comprehensive, scenario-based, near real-time seismic and landslide risk evaluations. Following these evaluations, rapid needs assessments will help prioritize national and regional resources for disaster response. Building upon the success of the UCPM CRISIS Project (101004830-UCPM-2020-PP-AG), the EMERGE initiative extends the CRISIS platform into a tool for rapid needs assessment. This is a vital component of civil protection efforts during disaster aftermath. The platform’s goal is to quickly assess the needs of affected populations and determine the most effective ways to deliver aid and support. It also aims to assist first responders in providing rapid and effective assistance, improving response speed, prioritization, and coordination of regional resources and capacities.
