Research Groups - Department Of Geology
Regional Geology Research - Teaching Group
This group includes Tectonics with a special focus on Seismotectonics, Mapping with a special focus on geological structures, Basic Sciences of Paleontology and Historical Geology, Petrography, Mineralogy, Stratigraphy, etc. The basic task of this group is research and scientific studies to increase the level of knowledge of the land in the Albanian territory. The most important product produced by this group is reflected in maps where the main elements that are reflected are the geological formations and the relationships between them. Tectonics is the scientific study of the deformation of the rocks that make up the earth's crust and the forces that produce such deformation. Seismotectonics deals with the study of seismic events (earthquakes), their characteristics and their relationship with the tectonics of a given region and the general dynamics of the earth's crust.
The group consists of:
- Academic staff
- Academic assistant staff
Applied Geology Research - Teaching Group
This group includes Engineering Geology with a special focus on the geotechnical assessment of areas and regions for the purpose of urban and tourist development. In this group, the studies of Hydrogeology of Albania and Georisk are also included.
Two monitoring networks are planned to be built:
- Landslide monitoring network
- Erosion monitoring network
The group consists of
- Academic staff
- Academic assistant
Geophysics Research - Teaching Group
This group includes Geophysics with the traditional disciplines of electrometry, gravimetry, magnetometry and with a special focus on Radon. Geomagnetism, which is the study of the earth's magnetic field, will also be a priority of this group.
- It is planned to build the network of geomagnetic measurements as a priority
The group consists of:
