In the framework of NATO Programme “Science for Peace and Security” during May, 21 – 22, 2012 was organized a Seismic Workshop in Istanbul, Turkey. Prof.Dr.Llambro Duni and Prof.Dr.Neki Kuka from Institute of Geosciences, Energy, Water and Environment participated in this event, based on an invitation from its organizers.

The main goal of this workshop was to bring together all the scientists involved in the seismic projects financed by the NATO Programme “Science for Peace and Security” during the last 15 years in order to present the output of their projects.  Apart from the results, this workshop was able to analyze the major encountered problems as well as new challenges and directions where the studies in the field of seismology should be focused in the future. In this workshop there have been also exchanged different views on how to improve the SPS NATO Programme in the way it supports seismic studies for the NATO countries and its partners.
